Occurrence… Widespread throughout Europe, except for the far north.

Feeding… Dives from water’s surface and stays under for lengthy periods, mainly in search for fish, also, large aquatic invertebrates, newts and small frogs, will also be eaten.
Nesting…Nests are constructed at the water’s edge, usually close to other nesting Great Crested Grebes. Generally, on large lakes, flooded gravel pits, large rivers and reservoirs. various plant material is collected and anchored to secure growing vegetation. 3-4 chalky white eggs are laid. (Hatching within 29 days)
1 brood February-June.
The young birds are taught from an early age the skills of diving, for prey. Cared for by both parents, until practically adults.
