Cardinal Fritillary
Cardinal Fritillary
Cardinal Fritillary Argynnis Pandora wingspan 60mm-75mm
Season June to early September.
This is the largest European fritillary and due to its size, is a powerful flyer.
Can be found throughout central and southern Europe.
In the mid-summer season, the Cardinal can sometimes be the most profuse butterfly in the mountain ranges.
Habitat…Various warm habitats such as urban gardens, meadows, woodland margins, glades and mountain slopes up to around 2000 m.
The lava feed on many species of viola.
I believe these are images of the female Argynnis Pandora.
