Dicranocephalus albipes
Dicranocephalus albipes
Dicranocephalus albipes (Hahn, 1826)
Family: Stenocephalidae- Spurgebugs
Length: 11 to 14mm.
Season May to September.
I am afraid I have not been able to acquire much information on this species of Dicranocephalus, other than there are two other species that are present in central and southern Europe, being D. Medius and D. Agilis. Very similar in appearance, D. Albipes can be distinguished from the other two by its Antenna markings; D Agilis is more elongate than D. Medius.
Habitat: Sunny, open areas.
Feeds on Spurges, (Euphorbia spp.) which are herbaceous plants or shrubs, with small green flowers, that contain a milky latex within the stems and leaves.
