Family: Crabronidae (Solitary Wasps)
Flight Season: May to September
Lestica (There are at least 40 described species in Lestica) a genus of square headed wasps with the male also having a distinctive elongated head.
Occurring across Southern Europe and into Southern France. North Africa, Western and Central Asia, this species was twice recorded in Southern Britain, but has not been recorded there for over 150 years!
Habitat: Scrub-land and woodland edges where they nest in decaying wood.
Main prey being small adult Lepidoptera
