Family: Geometridae.
Belonging to a large family of varied small to medium sized moths with slender bodies with broad triangular forewings.
A variable coloured species of moth, wing colouring can be white or yellow with a bold pink or brown cross-band
.
Flight season: Mainly all year in southern Europe and North Africa.
A widespread and common moth which breeds in the South of Europe and North Africa.
Migrates to most parts of Southern Europe and to the warmer parts of Asia.
The elongated eggs are yellowish in colour with distinct red spots, the caterpillar is polyphagous (able to feed on various kinds of food) and they are not easy to spot as they mimic small twigs, reaching a length of 25mm. being pale brown or green in colour.
Habitat: Grasslands, scrub land and woodland clearings, can also be found in mountainous areas. A night flying moth attracted to light, but is easily disturbed throughout the day.
