Body length 12 to 15mm.
Season: May to September.
Family: Reduviidae – known as Assassin Bugs.
Widespread in all of Spain, Portugal and most countries of Western Europe excluding UK. As far East into Italy. Also found in North Africa.
Habitat: open areas and scrub land
Some Rhynocoris species in this genus provide parental care for the offspring and are well known for guarding their eggs.
Rhynocoris erythropus is a very successful hunter in the way it hunts for prey, using its stealth ability similar to how a spider uses the same technique.
