There are about 270 “villa” species of Bee-fly world-wide, except for the diverse cold climates of Northern and the Southern Arctic continents.
Very little information found, regarding this species of Bee-fly.
Images below were taken in the month of July 2021, on open scrubland close to a Pine Forest.
Villa ixion can be seen feeding from the thistle plant, “Eryngium Campestre” for pollen and nectar, (This plant is a member of the Apiaceae family).
