Pentaglottis sempervirens (Green Alkanet) Height to 60cm.
Also known as “Evergreen Bugloss” or “Alkanet”.
Flowering from April till June. Flowers 8mm to 10mm, blue with white centres and flowering in small clutches towards the top of the plant.
This plant grows upright and is a bristly perennial, native to Western Europe; but not native to the British Isles. It is found near buildings, along damp shady hedgerows and on roadside verges; it has difficulty growing in acidic soil.
