Family: Ptychopteridae. (Resembles crane-flies)
Ptychoptera is a genus of phantom crane-flies in the family Ptychopteridae.
Ptychoptera refers to their folded wings.
On the wing: May to October.
Habitat: Prefers water margins and damp locations. Larvae are aquatic and can be mistaken as “leather jackets”, as they also have long breathing tube tails, being able to extend the water’s surface.
