length: 9 to 11mm
Family: Tenthredinidae (Tenthredo is a genus of Sawflies with more than 700 species worldwide)
A widespread and common species in the United Kingdom. Found over most of Europe including, North into Norway and far in the east; into Russia.
Tenthredo amoena looks typically like most other Tenthredo species, like other sawflies they prey on flies and other insects they come across while feeding on flowers.
The larvae feeds on a variety of the St. Johns-wort family of plants (hypericum).
June until August, the adults can be seen feeding mainly on Euphorbia and the Apiaceae species of plants.
